This year, Sarajevo will once again be the New Year’s center of the region, with a rich entertainment program. Sarajevans, guests and tourists can expect a three-day musical spectacle, which will make the beginning of the year the most fun so far!
THREE DAYS OF ENTERTAINMENT
The musical program starts on December 30, when there will be a classical music concert, with professor Ognjen Bomoštar as the conductor. The concert will be held in front of the Eternal Flame.
On December 31, the music star of the region – Željko Joksimović will bring in the New Year for visitors, with his well-known and energetic hits, which will warm up the audience and make them dance. The public New Year’s Eve in Sarajevo will return to Trg BiH, where prior to Željko, Dino Merlin and Zdravko Čolić performed in previous years.
On the first day of 2020, Sarajevo will reverberate with the sounds of the timeless hits of Sarajevan rock band Zabranjeno Pušenje. The lead singer, Sejo Sexon, has announced that it will be an unforgettable party, and the concert will be held in front of the Eternal Flame, concluding New Year’s celebrations in the capital of B&H.
FESTIVE SPIRIT OF SARAJEVO
Apart from the New Year’s program, Sarajevo has plenty more to offer… The festive spirit of our city can be felt in several locations across the city.
We recommend that you visit the Zimska Čarolija (Winter Magic) at Skenderija, which is this year’s novelty in the capital of B&H, and as part of it, a large ice-skating rink has been set up, as well as various decorations and wooden houses that contribute to the festive atmosphere.
In addition, you can visit the Ice Garden at Trg Oslobođenja Alija Izetbegović, which takes up a part of Ferhadija Street, and brings us the icy magic of the New Year’s holidays. The winter fairy tale in the icy park in the center of Sarajevo is complete with decorative installations, an ice-skating rink, sledding area, zip line, all purpose-built precisely for this location.
There is also the Holiday Market, a well-known winter location, where all holidays are celebrated! This year’s Market brings the offer of 25 stall holders: craftsmen and producers of handmade items, fan shops of Sarajevan sports clubs, food and beverage producers… Apart from various activities for all generations and the magical ice-skating rink, the novelty is the Holiday Promenade, a festively lit and covered promenade, where one part of the wooden houses with the stall holders is located, an ideal place for taking photographs and creating unforgettable holiday memories.
